Map Keys or legends are essential for the use of maps. In addition of scale, some useful symbols help readers to understand what ICA Annuel Report maps says. First of all, we have the concepts of sectors * whom are : Transport, Power Energy, ICT and Water. Other hand, readers needs to know what projects are Committed or Pipelined ?
Hmm Well !. It is quite simple to do that, by focus on one of vector data.
- 1) Here, the vector is a project with its three informations (P,C,D,G).
- P = Project Name, C=Cost, D=Donors involved and G=Graphic symbol.
- P and D are as text featured. C is money. G is a small graphic symbol that is helping readers to digest the map.
2) The project Name seems to be better placed to answer the second concern as follow :
- (P,C,D,G) for Committed project
- (P^,C,D,G) for Pipeline, where P^ is formated as bold italic
Example :
(Central African Backbone – APL1, $ 100 M , WB, ==) as Committed
(Central African Backbone – APL1B, $ 80 M , WB, ==) as Pipelined
Do make the project name as italic.
Annotation
* The sector is similar to a vector space of projects

The graphics symbols shown in that picture are quite simple to digest. They were chosen as model understanding. They are used daily in the media, internet, mobile phones etc ...
